Ms. Laura Hunt
Originally from Alabama, Ms. Hunt began her ballet training at The Montgomery Ballet at the age of two. She then trained with the Alabama Dance Theatre, performing with their student company in roles such as Kitri in Don Quixote, and Tinker Bell and Wendy in Peter Pan. She received scholarships and trained at American Ballet Theatre, The School of American Ballet, Ballet Academy East, and Joffrey Ballet. At sixteen, Laura moved to New York City to continue her training at Ballet Academy East under the instruction of Darla Hoover, and the next year was offered a position with Kansas City Ballet, where she performed for eight years.
Highlight performances with the Kansas City Ballet include the title roles of Cinderella, Alice, and the Sugar Plum Fairy. Her repertoire includes works by George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Septime Webre, Edward Liang, Val Caniparoli, Twyla Tharp, and Agnes de Mille.
Since 2009, Ms. Hunt has shared her love of ballet, teaching throughout the Kansas City area, as well as serving as a guest teacher at Aledo Academy of Ballet in Texas. In 2023, she furthered her teaching training at the Teachers' Workshop at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Laura is thrilled to bring her training, performance experience, and passion for the art of dance to Ballet Academy of Missouri.
